Heritage is a group exhibition featuring Jacalyn Lopez Garcia's documentary
project Life Cycles: Reflections of Change and
A New Hope for Future Generations in
a unique presentation of 84 B/W and Color photographs with text. This group exhibition
will feature approximately 20 to 25 artists, and approximately 50-100 art works
will be presented in the Millard Sheets Gallery located at the Pomona Fairplex. Beyond
Heritage builds on the Millard Sheets Gallery’s successful 2005
exhibit, Latino
Artists of Los Angeles: Defining Self & Inspiration which also featured
Jacalyn's video collection "Cultural Crossings."
The exhibition is intended to investigate themes based on cultural identity
with artists who draw inspiration from their Latino heritage, but who work with
contemporary aesthetics, imagery, and issues, rather than traditional iconography
or practices.
